Mike,
Just joined the Forum. I have a 40' power boat that is kept in Lake MI. Approx 40% of the hull is Imron and the remaining gelcoat. I had the yard acid clean the hull this past fall to remove calcium deposits, old wax, etc.
What product(s) do you recommend that I order for application this spring.
Thanks

Welcome to Marine31Online! :welcome:

I was off all weekend so just now playing catch-up on Monday.

Are both the Imron and the gel-coat white in color?

Imron is a very good polishing paint in my experience and you want to treat it like car paint, that is use the same types of products you would use for car paint for the Imron.

The Wolfgang Uber Compound is a very high quality compound that will tackle just about anything. It's rated at being able to pull out #1200 grit sanding marks with a wool pad on a rotary buffer yet it finishing out like a fine finishing polish.

It's not available on the Marine31.com website but it is available on our sister site, Autogeek.net

It costs more that most compounds but if you're about doing the job right the first time and you don't want to use simple "Rocks in a bottle" type compounds then it's worth it's weight in gold.

Here's my article that includes some info on Wolfgang Uber Compound

The Wolfgang Four (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/74198-wolfgang-four.html)

Forum member RFulmer (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-tools-accessories/73908-need-help-rupes-flex-6.html#post1003767) coined this term, (due credit where credit is due), and since there's been a lot of questions about what each product is, what they do, the order of aggressiveness and when you use one over the other, here's some info...

Uber Compound

Aggressive Compound - More aggressive than Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover and Wolfgang Finishing Glaze.
For use with any type of polisher/buffer and can be used by hand.
Body Shop Safe = Can be used in a fresh paint. environment (body shop) and can be used on fresh paint, (paint just sprayed and less than 30 days old).
Safe for Ceramiclear paints.
Cafe for all clear coat paints.
Safe for all single stage paints.
For some people on some cars it can be used as a compound/polish after which the paint can be sealed with a wax or synthetic paint sealant.

Wolfgang Uber Compound 3.0 (http://www.autogeek.net/wg-5601.html)

You can use it with any machine, any pad and even by hand.

Thanks.I've been using Wolfgang products on my cars and am very happy with them. Which wax do you recommend? The Imron is gold in color, boat is a Formula 40PC.

I'd go with the Marine 31 Gel Coat Carnauba Wax + Sealant.
