Default 2013 Stuart Sailfish Regatta Powerboat Races

Here's some pictures from the Race Pit at this years Stuart Sailfish Regatta Powerboat Races. My Uncle Rusty Sedlack set both me and Stacy up with all the passes including a Pit Pass for me!

To get into the boat show, you park in a field next to the air port and then take a bus to the bottom of the bridge. From there you take a ride in a tram cart. You can opt to walk over the bridge but it's a long walk....

These are called New Jersey Skiffs. After owning and driving a full race drag boat for 20 years it just seems weird to sit in the back of the boat with the engine in front of you. Drag boats are set up like cars with the steering and seat in the front and the engine behind you.

I have pictures of these boats racing...

Hydroplanes...

Great pics Mike. Those Hydro's look like jet aircraft sans the wing. Cool stuff!

I have videos of all these boats racing, just need the time to get them loaded and added to this thread...

It's pretty cool having VIP access to all segments of these races for sure and I'm looking forward to next years races already...

i've seen some offshore racing while i lived in marathon, fl. awesome, but things can go bad very quickly with that much power and speed on the ocean. several boats broke up, but fortunately no one was seriously injured.
mike, is that you in your boat for your avatar ?

"yes"

That's me on Dexter Resivoir just outside of Eugene, Oregon. That's after I first installed my 402 BBC that Tim Briggs built up for me. I clocked 111mph in 12 second in that run.

I owned that boat for 20 years and should have never sold it. It was very fast and 100% reliable. A guy named Rick Baker bought the hull brand new and then installed all the running gear and raced it very successfully on the west coast for years.

After owning a Sanger Drag boat for so long it's hard to get it out of my system so someday I'd like to get another one.
