Default Sanding disc question

Hey Mike, I ordered a few 2000 and 3000 grit mirka abralon sanding discs to do a small test spot on my 2002 hull and got great results. Lots of fine scratches totally removed and even some of the bigger ones. My question is how often should you change discs? Or how many discs will I need for a 25' offshore boat with high freeboard? The interior is fine so ill just be doing the outside. Ill be using them on a Flex 3401. Thanks.

About the only way to tell when a sanding disc is used-up or "spent" is to watch as you sand for slurry to appear. Slurry is the water and abraded gel-coat which makes a milky looking film on the surface.

When you're sanding and you no longer see slurry building up the disc is probably spent.

For a boat that size? I'd suggest about 2-3 boxes of each grit per side.
